Proserpine museum visit

25/05/2017
Matilda teaching the alphabet to her students.

The Proserpine Museum visit was amazing.  The students explored all of the exhibits and discovered facts about sugar, early Indigenous presence in the Whitsundays, mining, animals and so much more.

Did you know that sugar cane is grown from the sugar cane stalks planted horizontally under the ground?  Farmers also poke holes in the stalks to enable new shoots to grow.

The upstairs exhibition was an old school.  The students sat in old desks, read old books and wrote on slates.  Thank you Proserpine Museum, for a wonderful visit.
