NAIDOC: Traditional weaving and sculpting

11/07/2017

Therese and the students creating their Australian animal sculptures.

This week we had Jess and Therese from ‘Flying Arts’ visit Hayman Island State School to celebrate NAIDOC week. The children used natural and recycled materials to create artworks inspired by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  In Science we have been learning about materials and their properties and in Visual Art our focus has been on sculptures. We combined these learning areas focuses with our NAIDOC activities to have a great day weaving and sculpting.
